The Dalmore 102 Proof Aged 12 Years Single Malt Released
Bottled at a High 51% ABV with Bespoke Sherry Cask Finishing
Highland Scotch distillery The Dalmore has announced the release of a brand-new limited edition single malt whisky: The Dalmore 102 Proof Aged 12 Years. Bottled at 51% ABV (equivalent to 102 proof), this whisky showcases a distinctly different flavor profile from the brand's core range.
A New Dual-Sherry Cask Finishing Recipe
Rather than simply raising the alcohol strength compared to the distillery's standard 12-year-old expression bottled at 40% ABV, this new version introduces an entirely redesigned finishing and maturation recipe. The whisky is first matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks for 10 years, before being split between Oloroso sherry casks and bespoke sherry casks specially crafted for the distillery by its long-time Spanish partner, González Byass. These bespoke casks combine classic and aged Oloroso sherries balanced with sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry, designed to enrich and deepen the distillery's signature house style.

Official Tasting Notes & Flavor Profile
According to the distillery's official tasting notes, the nose reveals aromas of candied citrus, sun-dried raisins, molasses toffee, and warm oak spice. The palate is richly layered, featuring notes of forest berries, Seville orange marmalade, fruit cake, and dark chocolate, accompanied by a subtle hint of sweet liquorice. The finish lingers with rich dried fruits, freshly roasted coffee, and dark chocolate truffles. The distillery also highlights its versatility, noting it performs exceptionally whether enjoyed neat, with a dash of water, over ice, or in spirit-forward cocktails.
The distillery noted that the decision to raise the bottling strength was deliberate, aiming to enhance the spirit's texture, complexity, and structural depth. Both the bottle and its berry-toned presentation box proudly display the brand's iconic 12-point Royal Stag emblem.
