The Dalmore 單一麥芽威士忌推出 18 年 Cigar Malt 常規酒款 | The Dalmore launches new 18 Year Old Cigar Malt release

The Dalmore Adds 18YO to Cigar Malt Lineup

Cigar Malt Collection Welcomes Permanent 18YO Finished in Sherry, Marsala, and Dual Red Wine Casks

Highland distillery The Dalmore has announced the launch of a new permanent expression within its Cigar Malt series: The Dalmore Cigar Malt Signature Reserve Aged 18 Years single malt whisky. First introduced more than two decades ago, the series now expands with this 18-year-old iteration as an ongoing core offering bottled at 46% ABV, scheduled for official release later this month.

Multi-Cask Maturation: Bourbon Foundation and Four-Cask Finishing

The Dalmore is renowned for its multi-cask maturation expertise. This 18-year-old single malt was initially matured for 16 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before being transferred into four selected oak cask types for secondary maturation: Matusalem Sherry casks, French oak Marsala casks, French oak Cabernet Franc casks, and French oak Cabernet Sauvignon casks.

Each cask type was chosen deliberately to ensure distinct contributions to the spirit. American white oak bourbon casks lay a sweet, light foundation; Matusalem Sherry casks impart deep complexity packed with dried fruit and nut characteristics; Marsala casks introduce warming ginger spice for a lingering, expressive finish and mouth-filling texture. Meanwhile, the red wine casks bring balance: Cabernet Franc casks provide aromatic lift and subtle savory complexity without heaviness, while Cabernet Sauvignon casks provide structured tannins and robust body.

Aroma and Tasting Notes

On the nose, this whisky reveals chocolate orange, dried fig, and dark fruit aromas balanced by notes of agarwood and sandalwood. The palate presents forest berries and sticky medjool dates, accompanied by Seville orange marmalade, dark chocolate, and warming cinnamon spice.

This latest iteration highlights the influence of red wine casks on The Dalmore flavor profile, presenting enthusiasts of wine cask finishes with a deeper, more intricately structured choice.
