The Art of Sherry: An Oloroso and PX Duet

1. Traditional Dunnage Warehouses

While modern distilleries often use racked warehouses to save space, Glendronach still insists on traditional dunnage warehouses with thick stone walls and earthen floors. These floors maintain high, stable humidity, slowing alcohol evaporation and allowing the spirit to slowly absorb the essence of the oak and the local environment. This results in Glendronach's recognizable viscous texture and charming old wood notes.

2. Coal-Fired Legacy

Glendronach was one of the last distilleries in Scotland (until 2005) to abandon direct coal-fired heating. While now using steam, many rare high-aged expressions (like the Single Cask series or 30+ year olds) still carry the 'dirty character'—caramelized, heavy, and slightly smoky notes—that collectors cherish as a mark of that era.
