GlenDronach Unveils Exquisite 30 and 40-Year-Old Single Malt Whiskies

The GlenDronach distillery in Scotland's Highlands has revealed two exceptionally aged single malt whiskies, showcasing decades of sherry cask maturation expertise. The newly launched 30 and 40-year-old expressions mark a significant milestone for the Scottish whisky maker.

These two whiskies offer rare treasures for collectors. The GlenDronach 30 Year Old, meticulously crafted by Master Blender Rachel Barrie, combines flavors from Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso, and Amontillado sherry casks. Barrie describes it as a symphony of classic sherry cask flavors, with thirty years of maturation creating a refined and captivating single malt of rich and complex character. Tasting notes detail a deep cherry walnut color, with aromas of black cherry, raisins, and spiced pecan toffee. The palate offers candied cherry, raisin cake, and chocolate hazelnut coffee flavors.

The GlenDronach 40 Year Old 2025 Edition represents forty years of craftsmanship refined in Spanish oak Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Bottled at a cask strength of 43.9% ABV, it is presented in a gift box made from dark-stained rosewood with a brass handle. Official tasting notes describe the 40 Year Old’s color as deep black ochre, with luxurious aromas of black cherry and sherry-soaked chocolate cake. The palate features blackcurrant jam and smooth cinnamon-infused chocolate espresso.

The GlenDronach 30 Year Old is presented in a walnut veneer case, etched with 30 facets to commemorate its aging. Bottled at 46.8% ABV, it serves as a more accessible entry into The GlenDronach’s ultra-aged range. The release of these new expressions underscores the continuing premiumization trend in aged Scotch whisky, particularly those with extended sherry cask maturation. These rare, high-aged single malts will appeal to connoisseurs seeking unique flavors and are willing to pay a premium for such distinguished collectibles.
