Whisky Hammer Expands to Hong Kong for Asian Collectors

Expanding in Asia: Whisky Hammer Partners with Local Experts to Enhance Rare Whisky Auction Experience

Renowned online whisky auctioneer Whisky Hammer has officially announced the establishment of a new operational base in Hong Kong, aimed at providing better support and services to customers across Asia. This follows the launch of its first European mainland hub in the Netherlands last year. This expansion is in partnership with local firm 13 Degrees Wine Cellar, which provides professional climate-controlled storage solutions to ensure rare whiskies are preserved in optimal conditions.

Daniel Milne, co-founder and CEO of Whisky Hammer, stated that the move into Hong Kong is a natural progression following their European entry. By collaborating with 13 Degrees, the company can offer seamless local support to Asian clients while enhancing global service quality. Additionally, the company plans to launch new iOS and Android apps, using technology to further optimize the customer experience and seamlessly connect its growing global network for a smoother bidding process.

Localized Services and Global Growth Strategy

The Hong Kong hub will provide localized services including bottle drop-off, valuations, and customer consultations. For Asian collectors and sellers, this significantly lowers the logistical barriers to participating in online auction platforms. Founded in 2015 by brothers Daniel Milne and Craig Milne, and headquartered in Aberdeenshire near Speyside, Scotland, Whisky Hammer hosts monthly global auctions attracting thousands of users bidding for rare and collectible whiskies.

As Hong Kong is considered a key market for whisky collection and investment, establishing this hub is part of the founders' global growth acceleration plan. Joseph Luk, General Manager of 13 Degrees, noted that Whisky Hammer's reputation aligns with their commitment to world-class service. This follows the company's 2024 opening of a bonded warehouse in Singapore, continuing its deep commitment to Asia and making it easier for regional buyers to participate in auctions.
