Caroni, located in Trinidad, closed down in 2002, with relatively few official bottlings. After its closure, various independent bottlers (especially Velier) released many high-quality expressions, catapulting Caroni's fame to new heights, even leading to Caroni being called the "Port Ellen of Rum".

Although Caroni closed in 2002, La Maison and Velier released this expression in 2018 to celebrate Caroni's 100th anniversary (1918-2018) as a tribute to Caroni.
They retroactively used the label design from Caroni's 1940s exports to the UK, and the ABV also reflects the setting of that era.
