Caroni distillery in Trinidad closed in 2002, resulting in a relatively small number of Official Bottlings (OBs). Following its closure, various Independent Bottlers (IBs), particularly Velier, released many high-quality expressions, which dramatically increased Caroni's fame, even earning it the nickname 'Port Ellen of Rum'.

Although Caroni ceased distillation in 2002, La Maison and Velier released this bottling in 2018 to commemorate Caroni's 100th anniversary (1918-2018).
It features a retro label design based on those Caroni exported to the UK in the 1940s, and the ABV also reflects that era's standard.
