GlenAllachie Launches Limited Edition Sinteis Series After Winning Global Best Single Malt Whisky Title

GlenAllachie, which just won the title of World’s Best Single Malt Whisky for its 12-year-old expression, has introduced a new limited edition series named Sinteis. The name comes from Scottish Gaelic, meaning fusion, and embodies the core idea of harmoniously blending spirits from different casks.

Led by legendary Master Distiller Billy Walker, the independently operated distillery GlenAllachie has launched Sinteis Part I. With 53 years of experience, Walker personally selected the spirits from the distillery’s 16 warehouses in Speyside, which house 50,000 casks. This 2014 vintage single malt whisky combines flavors from American Ozark Chinquapin virgin oak casks and Spanish Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The former imparts sweet spices and star anise notes, while the latter adds dark chocolate and ripe fruit aromas, creating a bold yet balanced profile.

Walker stated, The Sinteis series allows blenders to break conventions and unleash creativity. The debut release specifically uses rare first-fill casks, making its flavors more approachable and perfectly embodying the fusion of boldness and classicism.

The series features visuals by Scottish designer Kayley Barbour, with gold-embossed hand-drawn symbols on the bottle representing the fusion of multiple woods. True to the brand’s ethos, Sinteis Part I is bottled at cask strength of 57.8%, without chill filtration or artificial coloring. Official tasting notes describe it as having aromas of licorice, butterscotch, and toasted honeycomb, complemented by preserved fruits and cocoa. On the palate, it offers ginger spice, lemon zest, and fig jam, with a finish of cinnamon and rich cocoa.
