Premium First Fill PX Sherry Cask Maturation

The Year of the Horse 2026 was casked in 2011, matured in a First Fill Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry Butt from Jerez in southern Spain. This specific Bota Gorda cask is larger in volume and was once part of a Sherry Solera system, imparting deep, intense PX sweetness while showcasing the elegant and delicate complexity of Tomatin spirit. As one of the few Scotch Whisky distilleries with its own Cooperage, Tomatin's strict selection and maintenance of casks ensure the exceptional quality of every drop.

A Sensory Feast: Non-Chill Filtered and Natural Color

This whisky is non-chill filtered and retains its natural color. The bottle features a red label adorned with ornate artwork, symbolizing festive luck and energy. Distillery Manager Jamie Muir stated that the distillery rarely releases single cask expressions to the global market, making this robust and fruity single malt the perfect choice for New Year celebrations. He noted that Jerez is not only the home of Sherry but also the 15th-century birthplace of the Carthusian horse, echoing the distillery's deep historical heritage.

On the nose, it reveals aromas of orange peel, dried cranberries, honeycomb, and cinnamon; the palate intertwines candied almonds, toffee apples, and salted liquorice with a long finish. Tomatin consistently upholds traditional craftsmanship and frequently triumphs at international competitions like IWSC and SFWSC. Bottled at 56.5% ABV, this rare release is limited to just 817 bottles worldwide, making it a top choice for collectors and enthusiasts.
