GlenAllachie Presents The Fire Horse Lunar New Year Limited Edition Whisky
The GlenAllachie Distillers Company proudly launches its 13-year-old single malt Scotch whisky to celebrate the 2026 Lunar Year of the Fire Horse. This limited edition release is the second installment in the independent Speyside distillery's Lunar New Year series, with maturation in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, Oloroso sherry casks, and virgin oak. The Lunar New Year will begin on February 17, 2026, ushering in the Year of the Fire Horse.
Master Blender Billy Walker personally selected each cask, perfectly combining whiskies aged in different sherry butts with heavily charred Appalachian virgin oak. The Pedro Ximénez casks impart flavors of brown sugar, cherry, raisin, and warm spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. The Oloroso sherry casks add rich notes of dark chocolate, mocha, dates, and figs. The virgin oak casks infuse hints of shortbread, vanilla, coconut, and delicate spice.
Billy Walker stated that he has traveled to Asia many times over the years and has had the pleasure of interacting with numerous whisky enthusiasts and GlenAllachie fans who share the same passion for whisky. He and his team aim to capture the joyous spirit of the festivities with this second Lunar New Year series whisky, while also showcasing the unique personality of The GlenAllachie.
The distillery also collaborated with several major retailers in Asia, who tasted the whisky before bottling and provided valuable feedback on its vintage, cask selection, and flavor profile. These insights were incorporated into the liquid and packaging design. Scottish artist Kayley Barbour created a hand-drawn illustration for the limited edition packaging, featuring fiery red tones where the horse's mane and tail leap like flames. Each box includes a horseshoe charm symbolizing good luck.
This limited edition Fire Horse whisky follows The GlenAllachie's 2025 release, the Year of the Snake 11-year-old, which also featured a maturation process combining Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sherry casks, and virgin oak.
