Renowned Scottish whisky brand The Dalmore, under Whyte & Mackay, has officially announced the brand-new single malt whisky for the 2026 Distillery Select series. First introduced in September 2024, the series aims to showcase rare expressions hidden within the brand's traditional dunnage warehouses at its Highland distillery in Scotland. Hand-selected by the expert blending team from specific, exceptional casks, these rare liquids elevate the distillery's signature classic style to new heights, demonstrating a profound heritage in maturation craftsmanship.
The latest release is a 14-year-old single malt whisky. After distillation, the spirit was initially matured for an extended period in American white oak bourbon casks, before being carefully transferred into semisecco Marsala casks for a secondary maturation of 1 year and 9 months. Hailing from Sicily, Italy, semisecco Marsala is a semi-sweet fortified wine that infuses this whisky with an extraordinarily rich flavor dimension, offering notes of candied citrus, honeyed fruits, toasted nuts, and delicate, gentle spices.
Master Blender Supervision: Limited Release at 53.7% Cask Strength
Master Blender Dr Kirstie McCallum noted that after one year of maturation in the semisecco Marsala casks, the team could already perceive sweet citrus and brioche aromas gradually emerging, though the overall structure had not yet reached an ideal balance. The blending team subsequently closely monitored the cask maturation process, and a few months later, all flavours merged in perfect harmony. The influence of the Marsala is impeccably judged, while perfectly preserving the core soul of The Dalmore distillery, delivering deep sweet citrus, rich toffee, nuts, and baked pastry spices.
This 2026 The Dalmore Distillery Select single malt whisky is bottled at a cask strength of 53.7% ABV, with a limited release of 1,110 bottles. This rare new release will officially launch on August 31, and whisky enthusiasts can purchase it via the official online platform, global designated brand boutiques, or by visiting The Dalmore distillery visitor centre, located along the shores of the Cromarty Firth in the Eastern Highlands of Scotland, which completed a major upgrade earlier this year.
