SMWS Burns Night Feast in London's Medieval Crypt
Scottish Legend Revived in London Crypt: SMWS Presents Burns Night Whisky & Cultural Feast
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) will host a grand Burns Night celebration on January 23rd at the medieval crypt of St Etheldreda’s in Farringdon, London. Following last year's sold-out success, this is not only the Society's flagship annual event but also a rare opportunity for non-members to experience its unique whisky culture firsthand. The celebration officially begins at 7:00 PM with a ceremonial traditional bagpipe performance.

An Immersive Experience: Poetry and Spirits in the Crypt
During the banquet, guests will enjoy a traditional three-course Scottish meal paired with six exceptional Society whiskies curated by experts. Musicians Tim Hain and Alan Glenive will perform blues-style whisky songs throughout the evening, injecting modern energy into traditional customs. SMWS London Manager Simone Malavolta noted that to accommodate more enthusiasts, the venue has moved from Greville Street to St Etheldreda’s, which features dramatic stone arches and atmospheric lighting, aiming to transport guests back to the glorious era of poet Rabbie Burns.

About the SMWS Single Cask Philosophy
Founded in Edinburgh in 1983, SMWS is renowned for its unconventional single cask whisky classification. The Society does not directly disclose distillery names but uses imaginative titles like "Red wine and brine in the old coal mine" to guide drinkers back to the essence of flavor, focusing on the sensory experience woven by wood and time.
