Independent bottler Port Askaig has announced that its popular Islay Single Malt Whisky range will welcome new members in May 2026. Highly anticipated by enthusiasts, Port Askaig 100 Proof returns after a long hiatus, alongside the launch of the brand-new Port Askaig Sherry Cask. First introduced in 2015, the 100 Proof was discontinued due to sourcing challenges for high-quality spirit, but this legendary expression is finally back in the spotlight.

Precision Cask Craftsmanship: Bourbon and Sherry Interpretations

The revived Port Askaig 100 Proof is matured in first-fill bourbon casks and bottled in small batches at a robust 57.1% ABV. Meanwhile, the new Port Askaig Sherry Cask is bottled at 50.5% ABV, using spirit aged in Oloroso Sherry casks sourced from the renowned Jose y Miguel Martin cooperage in Spain. This expression features notes of smoky plum jam and dark chocolate, adding deep fruitiness and balance to the core range.

Honoring Tradition: A Balance of Bourbon Sweetness and Peat Smoke

Master Blender Oliver Chilton stated that the new releases aim to present the perfect harmony between bourbon cask sweetness and peaty smoke. The Port Askaig core range now includes the 8 Year Old, 100 Proof, Sherry Cask, and 15 Year Old. Owned by Elixir Distillers, founded by Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh, the brand continues to recreate classic Islay flavors through exceptional cask selection as a tribute to Scotch tradition.
