Littlemill Unveils Ultra-Rare Echoes of the Past Series - 34-Year-Old Limited Edition Whisky
Loch Lomond Group recently announced the launch of the Littlemill Echoes of the Past series, an ultra-rare single malt Scotch whisky crafted exclusively for the duty-free market. The series stands out as it enables collectors to observe the maturation of the same cask over three consecutive years, a groundbreaking initiative in the whisky industry.
Littlemill, Scotland's oldest licensed distillery (established in 1773), is now defunct, with only a few remaining casks. The Echoes of the Past series pays homage to Littlemill's distilling heritage, featuring a carefully selected Oloroso sherry cask for this exclusive project. Only 50 bottles are drawn from the cask each year, allowing the remaining liquid to continue maturing, resulting in a three-part limited release.
Luke Maga, Global Travel Retail Managing Director at Loch Lomond Group, stated, 'Littlemill holds a revered place in Scotch whisky history, and we are honored to preserve its legacy through this exclusive release.'
The inaugural product, Littlemill Echoes of the Past 34-Year-Old, will debut in select duty-free shops in 2025. Distilled in 1990, this whisky was aged for 25 years in refill American oak hogsheads before being transferred to an Oloroso sherry cask in 2025. Bottled at 48.5% cask strength, it comes in individually numbered Glencairn glass decanters with intricate engravings.
Each bottle is housed in an oak display case with elegant curves and stone accents, honoring the distillery's historical significance. The case includes a dedicated drawer containing a 50ml sample and a certificate of ownership.
This 34-year-old whisky offers a complex flavor profile, with aromas of rose petals and elderflower, complemented by dried apricot, kiwi, and peach notes. The palate is smooth, featuring melted brown sugar, honeysuckle, vanilla fudge, and citrus tones, balanced by warm cinnamon and ginger spices.
According to Loch Lomond Group's press release, the first batch will be available in major global duty-free shops starting July 1.
