Loch Lomond Group Unveils New Luss Distillery, A Must-Visit for Whisky Enthusiasts
Loch Lomond Group has officially opened its brand-new Luss Distillery and visitor experience center, a multi-million pound investment. The 5,362 square meter facility, situated on the banks of Loch Lomond in the heart of Luss village, has been transformed from the historic Luss smokehouse and surrounding land, now becoming a popular destination for both whisky connoisseurs and beginners. The new venue comprises four unique buildings, including retail spaces and an immersive whisky exploration area.
This state-of-the-art attraction will serve as the dedicated brand home for independent producer Loch Lomond Whiskies, known for its adventurous spirit and numerous awards. The retail space will also showcase Loch Lomond Group’s wider portfolio of whiskies, champagnes, and spirits, including Glen Scotia and Littlemill.
The new attraction, expected to draw thousands of explorers and visitors, will offer guided tours, a fully immersive discovery center, whisky tastings, and high-quality dining experiences. Colin Matthews, founder and CEO of Loch Lomond Group, stated that the opening of Luss Distillery is a significant milestone for the company, reflecting its commitment to innovation, quality, and growth within the Scotch whisky industry, while also creating employment opportunities and supporting the local community.
The design of Luss Distillery, by Paul Hodgkiss Designs, aims to create a serene connection with nature. Natural materials have been used, and the construction is cleverly designed to maximize the stunning surrounding landscape. The design also incorporates an iconic lighthouse shape, paying homage to Ben Lomond, which was historically known as the 'light house mountain'.
Luss Distillery is now open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Loch Lomond Group, founded in Alexandria, boasts a portfolio of award-winning brands with products sold in over 125 countries worldwide. The Loch Lomond distillery has been producing premium single malt whiskies since 1814.
