A Limited-Edition Masterpiece Blending Romance and Innovative Brewing Craft

Located in Edinburgh, Scotland, Holyrood Distillery recently announced the launch of its new limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky, "Holyrood Smoulder." Adhering to its pioneering "flavour-first" production philosophy, the distillery has combined rare malt varieties, yeasts, and casks rarely seen in the traditional whisky industry, perfectly showcasing its innovative brewing craftsmanship and unique style of breaking conventions.

Centered around a soft yet spicy smoky profile, this new release cleverly incorporates the witty and humorous elements of romance novels. The distillery is not only dedicated to pushing the limits of whisky-making techniques, but also aims to break traditional frameworks in how people talk about whisky. Designed by renowned illustrator Jamie Edler, the bottle label draws inspiration from the intense, passionate gazes between lovers in classic romance novels, vividly portraying the whisky's fiery, charming smoky appeal and intense emotion.

Unique Multi-Malt Recipe and Cask Maturation

In terms of recipe, Holyrood Smoulder is bottled at 47.1% ABV and features a distinctive multi-malt blend consisting of 75.73% Heavy Peated Highland Peated Malt, 17.42% Scotch Pot Still Malt, 5.71% Plumage Archer, and 1.14% Brown Malt. The spirit was then carefully matured in first-fill Bourbon barrels, ex-Rum barriques, and Oloroso Octave casks, imparting a deep and complex profile.

On the palate, this whisky emits an intoxicating earthy aroma, unfolding progressively complex layers with every second, and culminating in a powerful finale woven from deep smoke and rich nutty notes. Distillery Manager Calum Rae noted that the team approaches brewing with utmost rigor while firmly believing that whisky culture should embrace humor and playfulness.
