Independent Scotch whisky expert Douglas Laing & Co. has officially announced the release of Strathearn Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Batch 03. Hailing from one of Scotland's smallest traditional distilleries, this new small-batch single malt is bottled at 50% ABV, continuing the distillery's path of continuous evolution with an increased proportion of sherry cask maturation.

The creation of Batch 03 blends the distillery's signature cask recipe, combining bourbon, virgin oak, and sherry casks. By enhancing the influence of sherry casks, the distillery adds deeper complexity and richness to this already distinctive spirit. Each production run continues to strictly yield only a single cask of whisky, fully demonstrating the distillery's dedication to traditional craftsmanship.

Handcrafted 31-Cask Vatting and Official Tasting Notes

This latest small-batch whisky is vatted from 31 selected casks, including legacy stock from the distillery alongside spirit distilled since Douglas Laing took over. Official tasting notes indicate that the expression exudes rich aromas of roasted malt and barley sugar, accompanied by dark honey and warm spice notes. The palate reveals sweet shortbread-like qualities, layered with chocolate and toffee, leading to a long finish of oak, cocoa, and soft leather.
