Douglas Laing & Co. Launches New Big Peat Fèis Ìle 2025 Islay Whisky
Independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co. has announced the release of the annual limited edition Big Peat Fèis Ìle 2025 to celebrate the Islay Whisky Festival. This Islay blended malt whisky is specially curated to commemorate the event. Fèis Ìle is a ten-day festival that brings together whisky and Islay enthusiasts worldwide to celebrate the island's culture and its unique spirits. Big Peat proudly participates in this annual event and introduces this unique edition.
This limited edition Big Peat Fèis Ìle is a 2010 vintage, fully matured in selected Refill Hogsheads casks, taking whisky lovers back to the origins of Big Peat's story—Islay. The flavor profile showcases classic Big Peat characteristics, with sweet smoke and maritime saltiness intertwined, culminating in a signature smoky BBQ finish. This edition is produced in small batches, with a phenol level of 40PPM and an ABV of 50%, non-chill filtered and free from added coloring, fully embodying the spirit of Islay. The packaging features a premium foil gift box and a unique label design.
Additionally, Douglas Laing chairman Fred Laing has selected a single cask of 2010 Islay single malt whisky distilled at Caol Ila, releasing only 150 bottles. This single cask whisky, matured in a Refill Hogshead for 14 years, has an ABV of 55.4%, with each bottle personally signed and numbered by Fred. The flavor profile highlights citrus, sweet and salty notes, nuts, and oak tones, available exclusively on Islay during Fèis Ìle.
Big Peat brand manager Chloe Wood stated that this edition, through premium raw spirits and expert cask management, fully showcases Big Peat's design philosophy and flavor characteristics.
Douglas Laing & Co., established in 1948, specializes in single cask and small-batch malt whiskies, adhering to non-chill filtration and high ABV bottling to preserve the whisky's original character. Its Remarkable Regional Malts series includes blended malt whiskies representing various Scottish regions, with Big Peat as the Islay representative. The single cask series, such as Provenance and XOP Black, has also received numerous awards.
