Compass Box Launches 10-Year-Old Blend (3,610 Bottles)
Crafted from Three 10-Year-Old First-Fill Bourbon Casks to Commemorate a Decade of Whisky Transparency
Compass Box has announced the launch of a new limited-edition blended Scotch whisky, This is a 10-Year-Old Whisky, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the brand's public crusade for Scotch whisky recipe transparency. Released on September 26, this limited expression is restricted to just 3,610 individually numbered bottles worldwide, bottled at an ABV of 50.5%.
Fully Disclosed Recipe: A Marriage of Clynelish and Ardnamurchan
Compass Box has always championed transparency regarding its recipe details. This blended Scotch whisky unites three single malts aged for at least 10 years, all drawn from first-fill bourbon barrels. The recipe features 66.5% Clynelish, delivering its signature waxy texture and maritime complexity, alongside whiskies from Highland distillery Ardnamurchan: a 20.2% peated single malt and a 13.3% unpeated single malt, introducing smoky peat and multifaceted depth to the blend's architecture.

Flavor Profile & Tasting Notes
Officially described as light and luminous on the palate, This is a 10-Year-Old Whisky opens with aromas of Pink Lady apples and rhubarb crumble, unfolding into lush layers of custard, pineapple upside-down cake, silky white chocolate cream, vanilla panna cotta, soft apricots, and dusted nutmeg.
Nishat Gupte, CEO of Compass Box, remarked on the new release that the brand firmly believes whisky lovers deserve full transparency, remaining committed to disclosing the exact components, ages, and origins of every cask used. He emphasized that every drop in this bottle is aged precisely 10 years, making the name an honest statement rather than an industry critique—a clear demonstration of the brand's uncompromising dedication to transparency.
The Fight for Recipe Transparency
Under current Scotch whisky regulations, age statements may only reflect the youngest component within a blend, often leaving consumers in the dark regarding the specific proportions and maturation periods of other whiskies in the glass. Compass Box has long advocated that producers should have the freedom to disclose full recipe details. In 2015, the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) challenged the brand over age labelling on Flaming Heart and This Is Not a Luxury Whisky, inspiring Compass Box to launch the Scotch Whisky Transparency campaign in 2016 to champion full freedom of disclosure.
