Product Details

Clynelish 14 Years Old is a flagship representation of the Highland region. Its famous beeswax texture stems from the distillery's unique distillation process, giving the spirit an exceptional oily mouthfeel and weight. This whisky perfectly balances fresh fruit, subtle smoke, and a slightly salty sea breeze. The 2019 release received a high score of 88 points on Whiskyfun, making it a top choice for a daily dram among connoisseurs.

The history of Clynelish (pronounced: Klay-ne-lish) dates back to 1819, founded by the Duke of Sutherland. Located in the northern Highland town of Brora, the distillery's iconic label features a Highland wildcat—not only the distillery's totem but also the crest of the Duke of Sutherland's family.

Clynelish is world-renowned for its unique 'waxy' character, which is no accident. During distillation, Clynelish deliberately retains the precipitates in the Low Wines Receivers. It is said these oily substances create the smooth and waxy profile that cannot be easily replicated. Even during modernization, management insisted the process remain identical to protect this precious heritage.

For a long time, the majority of Clynelish production was used as a core component for Johnnie Walker blends (notably Gold Label). Consequently, Official Bottlings (OB) were relatively rare. The 14 Years Old stands as the pillar of the core range, showcasing pure Highland pedigree—blending inland sweetness with a touch of northern maritime saltiness, widely considered one of the most complex whiskies in the region.
