Bruichladdich Launches Latest Limited Edition Port Charlotte 18-Year-Old Whisky

Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay has announced the release of its latest limited edition Port Charlotte 18-Year-Old Whisky. This single malt Scotch whisky, named Port Charlotte 18 Year Old – 2025 Edition, boasts an alcohol content of 51.5% and a peatiness of around 40 PPM. The maturation process combines 53% 1st fill bourbon barrels, 31% 2nd fill sherry barrels, and 16% of the spirit aged in sherry barrels for 11 years before being transferred to new French oak barrels for about five years, and finally blended in 2nd fill bourbon barrels.

Since its first distillation in 2001, Port Charlotte whisky has become one of the representatives of Islay peated whisky, known for its unique flavor and deep connection to the Hebrides. This whisky uses 100% Scottish barley and is distilled, matured, and bottled entirely on Islay, showcasing the local community's guardianship and terroir.

Adam Hannett, Bruichladdich's Head Distiller, stated that the Port Charlotte 18-Year-Old Whisky fully embodies the terroir of Islay, with its multi-layered and unique flavor. The bourbon barrel-led maturation process gives this whisky a light, lively, and elegant character, perfectly combined with Port Charlotte's smoky flavor. The 2025 Edition features notes of vanilla, salted caramel, and hazelnut, with these rounded sweet flavors balanced by peat smoke and barbecue notes, presenting a new facet of Port Charlotte.
