Bimber 蒸餾廠推出四款全新「Spirit of the Underground」威士忌 延續倫敦地鐵系列

Bimber Distillery Unveils Four New 'Spirit of the Underground' Whiskies, Continuing London Underground Series

Bimber Distillery has announced the launch of four new single malt whiskies, marking the eighth installment of its collaboration series with Transport for London (TFL). The series, named 'Spirit of the Underground', pays tribute to iconic London Underground stations.

The four new whiskies are named after the Elephant and Castle, Marble Arch, South Kensington, and Kew Gardens underground stations. All malt comes from single farm barley from Warminster Maltings, featuring a seven-day fermentation, American oak washbacks, and direct-fire copper pot stills for distillation.

The collection includes two whiskies matured in ex-bourbon casks, one with a secondary maturation in tawny port casks, and another in re-charred oak casks. All whiskies are bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill filtered, with an alcohol content ranging from 56.5% to 58.1%. Each bottling yields approximately 262 to 340 bottles.

Regarding tasting notes, the re-charred oak cask expression of Elephant and Castle offers aromas of ripe red apples and pineapple, with flavors of toffee apple and vanilla poached pear on the palate. The ex-bourbon cask version of Kew Gardens exudes notes of vanilla and caramel, accompanied by flavors reminiscent of lemon cake. Marble Arch, finished in tawny port casks, is characterized by bright raspberry and red berry jam notes. South Kensington, an ex-bourbon expression, presents the qualities of fresh Granny Smith apples and lemon tart.

Steve Rush, Head of Marketing and Communications at Bimber Distillery, expressed his delight in adding these four highly representative underground stations to the 'Spirit of the Underground' series. He emphasized that two whiskies were fully matured in ex-bourbon casks, while the other two underwent secondary maturation in tawny port and re-charred oak casks, respectively, with these diverse cask treatments infusing Bimber's signature fruity single malt London whiskies with unique characters.

The collaboration between Bimber and Transport for London, with assistance from IMG Licensing, is planned to release a total of 44 different expressions. The London Underground system, inaugurated in 1863, remains the world's oldest underground passenger railway service. Each whisky bottle features a unique label design depicting different stations within the underground network.

Bimber Distillery, founded in 2015 and located in West London, is renowned for its traditional production methods and dedication to fruity single malt whiskies. This release marks batch number 8.

The series serves as a tribute to London's historical heritage and reflects the growing maturity of the UK whisky market, with collectors increasingly favoring unique expressions closely tied to local culture.
