Arran Distillers Launches Lochranza 30th Anniversary Cask Program
Isle of Arran Distillers in Scotland is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a limited edition of 30 Palo Cortado sherry casks, set to be filled on August 15, 2025, marking 30 years since the first spirit flowed from Lochranza Distillery. These special casks feature commemorative branding and come with 10 years of insurance and storage services, offering whisky enthusiasts a rare opportunity to own a piece of sherry cask history.
Lochranza Distillery, one of Scotland's few independently owned distilleries, began in 1995 as part of a plan to revive the island's whisky industry and has since grown to include Lagg Distillery. Managing Director Euan Mitchell highlights that this cask program is the perfect way for consumers to become part of Arran's legacy. The distillery is renowned for its Loch na Davie water source and diverse cask maturation techniques, with its single malt whiskies gaining international acclaim since the 1990s for their unique character.
Arran Distillers is among the few distilleries offering direct cask purchases, guided by senior expert Gillian Snaddon. Lochranza Distillery Manager Stewart Bowman praised the exceptional quality of the Palo Cortado sherry casks from Spain, which impart complex flavors of toasted oak, nuts, and citrus. This sherry variety combines the delicacy of Fino with the richness of Oloroso, making it highly sought after in the whisky industry.
