Honoring a 20-Year Milestone: Arran Releases Rare 10-Year-Old Peated Whisky Cask

Isle of Arran Distillers recently launched a specially selected 10-year-old peated Arran Single Malt whisky cask to celebrate the 20th anniversary of bulk inventory and cask sales manager Gillian Snaddon with the company. The newly released rare cask is a first-fill Bourbon barrel, filled in 2016 with spirit distilled from 20ppm Scottish malted peat. Each cask has been re-measured, with capacities ranging between approximately 92 and 105 liters, and all purchase options include five years of warehousing and insurance services.

The release of this peated whisky is of extraordinary significance because the Lochranza distillery ceased production of this style of spirit in 2017. At that time, the distillery acquired land to build its sister distillery, Lagg, which now specializes in producing heavily peated single malt whiskies. Over the past decade, the Lochranza distillery produced peated spirit for only a few weeks each year, and whisky enthusiasts have traditionally experienced this unique style through Machrie Moor Single Malt.

An Irreplicable Testament to Island Whisky History

Founded in 1995, Isle of Arran Distillers aimed to bring the craft of whisky distilling back to the Scottish islands. The company currently operates two distilleries: Lochranza in the north and Lagg in the south. Arran Single Malt has always been renowned for its smooth, fruity profile. Although experimental peated malt distillation was carried out over the years, these remaining stocks have become a precious and irreproducible piece of island history.
