Product Details
This whisky is crafted for enthusiasts who adore the sherry cask profile. Yoichi Distillery maintains the traditional 'coal-fired direct distillation' process, giving the spirit a thick and vibrant body. When this solid base spirit matures in high-quality sherry casks, it produces this layered, powerful, and sweet rare masterpiece. The 55% ABV preserves the flavor in its most original state.

Read more about the brand story
Yoichi Distillery was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the 'Father of Japanese Whisky'. After studying distilling in Scotland, he returned to Japan to find a location that most closely resembled the climate of the Scottish Highlands, eventually choosing Yoichi in Hokkaido. The cold climate and proximity to the coast infuse the whisky with a unique maritime saltiness during maturation.
Yoichi is most famous for its persistence in using traditional 'coal-fired direct distillation'. This method has almost disappeared even in Scotland because coal fires are intense and difficult to control, requiring master distillers with immense experience. However, it is precisely this extreme heat that imparts a unique 'toasted' character and a rich oily texture to the spirit. This Sherry & Sweet special edition further blends the red dried fruits, raisins, and spice sweetness of sherry casks with Yoichi's original light peat smoke. At 55% ABV, drinkers can add a few drops of water to feel the aromas slowly bloom, making it a rare experimental masterpiece for collectors.
