The Steeple vineyard has been owned by the winery's family since 1919, consistently growing Shiraz, making it the winery's oldest vineyard.
The barrels used are particularly noteworthy.
35% new French oak & 65% old French oak. Particularly special is the use of barrels from the Tonnellerie Sylvain Collection barrel series, a series specializing in premium barrels.
The wood for the barrels comes from oak trees over 300 years old, with a maximum of 60 barrels produced globally each year. Yalumba acquired 4 of them.

"Deep, bright red/purple colour. The bouquet is smoky, toasty and shows char-oak and coal dust over deep-set black fruit aromas.
These are echoed precisely on the palate, which is full-bodied and dense, fleshy and powerful, with excellent flavour and depth, before a lingering aftertaste.
A smashing shiraz which will richly reward the patient"
