The Caroni distillery in Trinidad closed in 2002. Original Bottling (OB) releases are relatively rare. After its closure, various Independent Bottlers (IBs), particularly Velier, released numerous high-quality expressions, bringing Caroni's fame to prominence, even earning Caroni the nickname 'Port Ellen of the rum world'.
