Product Details
Yoichi 10 Years Old marks a significant return following Nikka's brand restructuring. This whisky continues the use of Yoichi's signature 'direct coal-fired distillation,' a traditional technique that imparts a deeper, more powerful flavor to the spirit at high temperatures. Matured for 10 years in Hokkaido's harsh climate, the liquid absorbs the essence of the surrounding forests and sea, delivering a balanced and layered tasting experience.

Inside Nikka Yoichi Distillery: Masataka Taketsuru and the Yoichi Legacy
Read Brand Story
Founded in 1934 by the 'Father of Japanese Whisky,' Masataka Taketsuru, the Yoichi Distillery was established in Hokkaido because its environment, humidity, and climate closely mirror the Scottish Highlands. Taketsuru believed that only in this cold northern region, with quality peat and clear water, could a truly powerful single malt be crafted.
The most renowned process is 'direct coal-fired distillation.' While most modern distilleries use steam, Yoichi maintains the tradition of manual coal stoking. This method requires master craftsmen to adjust the fires constantly. The intense heat creates subtle toasted notes and deep complexity at the bottom of the stills, resulting in the irreplaceable smoky charm of Yoichi 10 Years Old. This 2023 bottling is a tribute to nearly a century of craftsmanship.
