What defines the 'heather smoke' profile of Highland Park?

This is the most iconic trait of Highland Park. Because the peat on the Orkney Islands consists primarily of heather roots, it produces an aromatic smoke with unique floral and honey sweetness when burned. This is much smoother and more approachable compared to the medicinal smoke found in Islay whiskies.

What are the main differences between Highland Park 12 and 18 Year Old?

The 12 Year Old (Viking Honour) is brighter, balancing smoke, honey, and citrus. The 18 Year Old (Viking Pride) uses a higher proportion of first-fill sherry casks, offering a deeper, more robust palate with dark chocolate, toffee, and dried fruit flavors and a longer finish.

Is Highland Park suitable as a gift?

Absolutely. Highland Park has a unique 'Viking Culture' brand story and artistic bottle designs featuring intricate embossed patterns. Its high balance of smoke and sweetness makes it an impressive gift for both beginners and seasoned connoisseurs.

Why is the Highland Park Valhalla Series highly collectible?

The Valhalla series (like Loki and Thor) features unique flavor profiles tailored to each deity's personality. Combined with the iconic wooden Viking longship display stands and their discontinued status, they hold significant appreciation potential in the secondary market.
