Worthy Park Launches Oldest 20YO Rum, Limited to 2,500 Bottles
Celebrating 20 Years of Distillation: Tropical Origin Maturation and 55% ABV Specs
Renowned Jamaican rum distillery Worthy Park has announced the launch of its oldest rum expression to date, Worthy Park 20YO, marking the 20th anniversary of restarting distillation. While ultra-aged expressions have become frequent in the whisky market, rums aged entirely in tropical origin climates for 20 years remain exceptionally rare. Limited to approximately 2,500 bottles worldwide, this 20-year-old rum will officially debut at the UK RumFest in London on October 17–18.

Tropical Aging and 55% ABV 100% Pot Still Rum
This new expression is crafted exclusively from pot still distillates and bottled at 55% ABV. Commercial manager Alexander Kong explained that although it is not cask strength, the distillery's rum shines best at a higher proof to deliver complexity and depth, marrying elevated strength with concentrated flavor. The liquid was aged entirely under tropical conditions in its native Jamaica across two decades.
A Blend of 2005 and 2006 Vintages
Worthy Park restarted distillation in 2005 after a 40-year hiatus. While this year marks the 20th anniversary since resuming production, the blending team selected casks distilled both in the inaugural year of 2005 and in 2006. Alexander Kong noted that the decision to delay bottling by a year was entirely guided by cask maturation progress. Senior blender and quality manager Craig Nicholson stated that cask selection was pivotal in creating this milestone expression, aiming to showcase the true value of tropical aging while preserving the distinctive character and flavor profile established from day one of the distillery's revival.

UK RumFest Debut and Global Distribution
The launch celebration is set for the UK RumFest, founded by Ian Burrell, which also celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Alexander Kong stated that Ian Burrell has contributed tremendously to the global rum industry and has been a longtime supporter of both Worthy Park and Jamaica. Following its UK premiere, the approximately 2,500-bottle release will be distributed across Europe, the US, and Jamaica. Kong also noted that the distillery has set aside other mature casks for future releases.
The core identity of Worthy Park stems from its dedication to pot still distillation. In 2005, introducing exclusively pot still rum was virtually unprecedented in Jamaica, and it remains rare in today's market. This 20-year-old rum perfectly encapsulates the distillery's unwavering commitment to traditional pot still craftsmanship and tropical maturation in its Jamaican homeland.
