Independent Scottish whisky producer The Glasgow Distillery has officially announced the launch of three brand new annual limited edition single malt whiskies under its Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky range. Positioned between the distillery's core Signature Range and experimental Small Batch Series, this annual release series aims to guide whisky enthusiasts in deeply exploring and experiencing the distillery's signature distilling style and cask maturation craftsmanship through carefully selected oak cask combinations.

Flavor Analysis and Limited Release of the Three New Expressions

The three new releases debuting today each boast distinct characteristics in flavor and maturation. First is the Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured Batch 2 – 8 Years Old (54% ABV), crafted from an equal split of unpeated and peated double-distilled single malts matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks. It delivers rich layers of vanilla, floral honey, sweet smoke, citrus fruits, shortbread, and tropical fruits, accompanied by a long, lingering oak spice finish, with a global release of 1,600 bottles.

The second expression is the Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish Batch 2 – 7 Years Old (54% ABV). Utilizing unpeated double-distilled spirit initially matured in first-fill bourbon casks before being finished in Ruby Port hogsheads for an extended period, it brings captivating, rich notes of summer berries, dark cherries, intense vanilla, marzipan, and pink peppercorn spice, with 1,200 bottles released. The third is the Glasgow 1770 Sherry Cask Matured Batch 1 – 6 Years Old (55% ABV), which likewise combines equal parts unpeated and peated spirit finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and Medium Sherry casks from the renowned Spanish bodega Ximénez-Spínola respectively, presenting delicate flavors of cedar wood, orange peel, dark fruits, toffee apple, and ground coffee, limited to 1,600 bottles.

The Glasgow Distillery co-founder Mike Hayward stated that this annual limited series celebrates whisky styles and oak cask combinations that the distillery firmly believes create magnificent synergy. These three whiskies have become vital members of the distillery's permanent portfolio, and as aged annual release editions tied to the continued maturation of the distillery's cask stocks, they will continue to evolve over time.
