The Dalmore Reopens Private Tours After 6-Year Hiatus

A Three-Year Waitlist for Bespoke Tours: Exploring Still Shapes & Tailored Tastings

Highland distillery The Dalmore has officially reopened its doors to visitors after pausing public tours for over six years. Unlike conventional distillery visits, this newly launched program is positioned as an ultra-exclusive bespoke experience. Requiring a minimum booking of two guests, the three-hour journey runs only twice a day from Monday to Friday, with reservations already fully booked through late 2027.

Historic Renovation and Deep-Dive Distillation Craft

The Dalmore, situated on the Cromarty Firth north of Inverness, has been crafting single malt Scotch whisky since 1839. Having recently completed its first major refurbishment in decades, the distillery seamlessly integrates modern hospitality spaces within its core 19th-century Victorian architecture. Accompanied by a dedicated host, visitors explore the stillhouse to examine how distinct still geometries influence reflux, spirit weight, and flavor profile, alongside discussions on cask maturation, blending artistry, and the signature distillery character.

Flexible Tasting Sessions Tailored to Personal Palates

When it comes to the tasting experience, the tour bypasses standard age-statement flights in favor of a flexible selection tailored to guests' preferences and conversation flow. Beyond rare distillery exclusives and expressions outside the core range, visitors are granted ample time to savor each pour. Allowing the whisky to rest in the glass for approximately twenty minutes lets the alcohol soften, revealing nuanced orchard fruits, seasoned oak, and rich secondary aromas that celebrate the distillery's profound, full-bodied profile.

As luxury whisky tourism evolves away from standardized production lines, The Dalmore has oriented this extensive overhaul toward intimate, high-privacy engagements—allowing seasoned enthusiasts to bypass elementary brewing basics and directly delve into the distillery’s core artisanal craft.
