Located on the Isle of Skye, the Talisker distillery has unveiled its rarest ultra-aged expression, Talisker Magma 47-Year-Old. This is the distillery's lowest-production rare release in recent history, continuing the innovative techniques first explored in Talisker Molten Seas. Available in strictly limited quantities worldwide, this whisky symbolizes the ultimate pursuit of combining maturation craftsmanship with natural elements, paying homage to the rugged landscape of its home on the Isle of Skye.

Volcanic Rock Toasting: Imparting Deep Fruity Character

During the maturation process, Talisker Magma 47-Year-Old was initially held in refill American oak casks before being transferred to experimental toasted American oak casks for a four-month finish. Eschewing traditional flame toasting, the distillery heated local volcanic rocks and rotated the casks around them, using steam to maintain humidity. This method avoids the bitterness often associated with direct burning, granting the whisky deeper layers, complexity, and a more pronounced fruity profile.

Masterful Blending and Lava-Inspired Design

Master Blender Greg Bruce notes that this technique unearths richer fruit, smoke, and spice layers. The liquid features gentle mineral and maritime notes, showcasing the brand's signature chili pepper heat with a silky mouthfeel and a Sichuan peppercorn finish. The bottle is crafted from 100% recycled glass with a gradient hue reflecting the deep sea and molten lava, topped with a handcrafted obsidian-inspired stopper. Owned by Diageo, this premium whisky will be available through select retailers in the UK, US, Asia-Pacific, and Europe.
