Oban Launches Limited 15-Year-Old Cask Strength Sherry Cask Finish Whisky

Oban Distillery has unveiled its limited edition Oban 15 Year Old Cask Strength Sherry Cask Finish whisky, a blend of Scottish distillation craftsmanship and Spanish sherry cask influences, regarded as a natural progression from the brand’s iconic 14-year-old expression.

Bottled at 55.3% ABV, this whisky was crafted by the distillery’s team of seven artisans, drawing inspiration from Spain’s Andalusia region while preserving Oban’s signature coastal character. The whisky was initially matured in European oak Butts and American oak Hogshead casks before finishing in Oloroso and Palo Cortado sherry casks, imparting dried fruit and toasted almond notes alongside Oban’s renowned subtle maritime salinity.

Tasting notes highlight aromas of raisins, orchard fruits, burnt orange peel, and lemon zest. The palate features caramel, toffee, almonds, vanilla, pepper, and European oak spices, with a lingering finish of brown sugar and tannins.

The distillery recommends pairing it with Spanish delicacies like aged Manchego cheese, olives, and Iberian ham to accentuate the sherry cask flavors and their synergy with Spanish cuisine.
