Mac-Talla Brings Italian Flair to Islay with Amarone Cask Whisky for Fèis Ìle 2025

Mac-Talla is celebrating the 2025 Fèis Ìle whisky festival with a limited-edition Islay single malt whisky. This special release, available from May 16, 2025, merges the intense smoky character of Islay whisky with the layered complexity of Italian wine casks, creating a distinctive drinking experience.

Bottled at 53.3% ABV without an age statement, this whisky undergoes a sophisticated maturation process in European oak casks and first-fill Amarone casks from Italy's Valpolicella region. Amarone della Valpolicella wine is renowned for its traditional appassimento method, which imparts rich flavors to the spirit.

The whisky features an 18-month finishing process—first aged separately in first-fill Amarone casks and partially refill European oak casks, then returned to Amarone casks for an additional 6 months. Official tasting notes describe it as bursting with vibrant stone fruit aromas wrapped in dark chocolate, finishing with warm peat smoke.

Mac-Talla will host exclusive events on Islay during Fèis Ìle (May 23-31) for attendees to experience this new release firsthand.
