House of Suntory's First Permanent Boutique at HK Airport
Blending Japanese Craftsmanship with Luxury Retail: House of Suntory Opens First Permanent Airport Boutique
Suntory Global Spirits has announced the opening of its first permanent House of Suntory shop-in-shop boutique at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), marking a new milestone for Japanese whisky in luxury travel retail. This 30-square-meter boutique, located in the East Hall of the Terminal 1 Departures Level, was created in partnership with Duty Zero by cdf, a joint venture under China Duty Free Group. The store showcases the group's flagship brands, including Hibiki, Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Toki whiskies, alongside Roku Gin, offering global travelers a closer look at the essence of Japanese craftsmanship.

Exquisite Design and Immersive Experience
The boutique's design draws heavily from traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring an exterior crafted with semi-transparent Washi paper and wooden lattices inspired by Kigumi woodwork. Inside, a circular feature wall inspired by the Marumado (round window) of Japanese architecture elegantly displays the whisky collections in a gallery format. A central tasting bar allows professional brand ambassadors to lead travelers on an in-depth whisky journey, focusing on rare, aged, and high-value expressions. Additionally, a neighboring gifting area offers personalized recommendations and packaging services to help travelers find the perfect presentation for their collection.
Leading New Trends in Travel Retail
Ashish Gandham, Managing Director at Suntory Global Spirits, stated that the space successfully elevates the value and experience of the global travel retail spirits market through immersive design and exceptional spirits. Enzo Li, Deputy General Manager of Duty Zero by cdf, also noted that the new store strengthens the depth of their premium spirits collection. As global demand for Japanese whisky continues to grow steadily, this partnership reflects a trend of producers deepening consumer engagement by establishing permanent brand boutiques instead of traditional shelving. As a key hub in the Asia-Pacific region, HKIA is the ideal location to showcase the House of Suntory heritage and offer rare finds.
