House of Hazelwood 36-Year-Old Warehouse Reserve Debut
Exploring the Art of Private Collections: House of Hazelwood 36-Year-Old Rare Edition Unveiled
House of Hazelwood has officially announced the first release in its new Warehouse Reserve series, starting with a 36-Year-Old Heavily Sherried Blended Malt. This landmark whisky was hand-selected from the Gordon family’s private dunnage warehouse in Dufftown. Marking the debut of this series, only 150 bottles are available worldwide, representing extreme rarity and exclusivity.
House of Hazelwood draws from the prestigious private collection of the Gordon family, owners of Scotch whisky giant William Grant & Sons. Jonathan Gibson, Director of House of Hazelwood, noted that this Warehouse Reserve captures the essence of the private inventory, where casks have been nurtured for decades until their flavor becomes irreplaceable. He described sharing these rare spirits as akin to looking through a family photo album with close friends.
This 36-Year-Old Blended Malt is a tribute to the art of sherry cask maturation. According to Eilidh Muir, Blender for House of Hazelwood, the liquid is profoundly influenced by sherry, offering a depth and complexity for enthusiasts to savor. The nose features notes of maraschino cherries, coffee beans, treacle, and rose, while the palate is described as full and rich, leading to an exceptionally long and warming finish. Warehouse Reserve Batch 1 is bottled at 51.4% ABV and is currently available by invitation only to friends of the brand or guests of Hazelwood House.
