Glenfiddich XS Single Malt Whisky Series Launched by William Grant & Sons for China Market Entry
William Grant & Sons has officially announced the launch of its new Glenfiddich XS single malt Scotch whisky series. The collection features three different aged expressions; 15, 18, and 21 years old. Crafted by Master Distiller Brian Kinsman, this series will debut in the Chinese market in November.
In an interview with The Spirits Business, Brian Kinsman stated, "Glenfiddich XS is a whisky that is both incrementally progressive and powerfully rich. It’s exciting and encourages exploration, designed to offer a more layered experience for the drinker." He further elaborated, "Its multi-layered secondary maturation process creates delicate yet complex flavors, adding new depth to the spirit."
Kinsman added, "The creation of Glenfiddich XS is aimed at appealing to a new generation of whisky drinkers who are redefining the rituals and occasions for drinking whisky, marking special moments and meaningful connections in life."
The Glenfiddich XS 15 Year Old whisky undergoes maturation first in American Oak and European Oak casks, with a final finish in Oloroso Sherry casks. Official tasting notes describe its flavor profile as having notes of green apple, warm cinnamon, subtle spice, and gentle oak sweetness.
For the Glenfiddich XS 18 Year Old, Kinsman utilized American Oak and European Oak casks, concluding with a finish in rare Moscatel Sherry casks. This expression offers an aroma of caramel fruit and toffee fudge, with a palate that combines the richness of sherry with the integration of oak tannins.
As the pinnacle of the series, the Glenfiddich XS 21 Year Old whisky was aged in American Oak and Oloroso Sherry casks, with a final maturation in rare Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. Its official tasting notes indicate an aroma of sugarcane and dark molasses, leading to a deep, full-bodied palate with woody spice and dried fruit notes.
All three whiskies in the series have an alcohol by volume of 42% ABV.
