The renowned Heaven Hill Distillery in Kentucky, USA, has officially launched the 2026 Grain to Glass series, designating this limited lineup as the brand's official "Year of Wheat." This series pays tribute to the distillery's commitment to the "Seed-to-Sip" philosophy of transparent production while exploring the artisanal aesthetics of wheated bourbon. Through this release, the distillery aims to showcase the pivotal role wheat plays in whiskey and how maturation over time imparts delicate, rich layers to the liquid.

Analyzing the Wheat Mashbill and Three Limited Expressions

The three expressions in this release all share the same mashbill: 52% corn, 35% wheat, and 13% malted barley. The third edition of Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon and a French Oak version were both distilled in 2019. The latter emphasizes that it is not a secondary finish, but was matured entirely in French oak for six years, delivering distinct spice and dried fruit notes. The highlight is the rare Extra Aged 9-Year-Old version, distilled in 2017 and bottled without chill-filtration to preserve the original, robust character of the bourbon.

From Seed Selection to Sustainable Agricultural Community Support

Master Distiller Conor O’Driscoll plays a central role in this project, collaborating with Beck’s Hybrids to select corn seeds, which are grown by Peterson Farms in Nelson County to ensure exceptional quality. Molly Vincent, Associate Brand Director of Luxury Whiskey, noted that the distillery has long studied wheated whiskey, and this series purposefully explores how wheat softens the spirit and builds complexity. Furthermore, Heaven Hill will partner with the Farm Rescue organization through the Family Farms First initiative, pledging funds to support agricultural communities and turning a love for the land into tangible sustainability.
