To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Bernheim brand, Heaven Hill Distillery has released the Bernheim Original Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey 20th Anniversary Limited Edition. Debuting in 2005, this brand was hailed as the first truly new American whiskey style since Prohibition. Using soft winter wheat as its primary grain, it broke the market's reliance on corn and rye, injecting a fresh perspective into the whiskey world.

Heaven Hill Brands Executive Chairman Max L. Shapira stated that this commemorative release is both a thank you and a celebration. Twenty years ago, the distillery took a bold chance on a new mashbill, and that adventurous spirit was eventually recognized by the market. Shapira emphasized that the brand's early success not only shaped Bernheim but also drove the diversification of modern American whiskey, allowing wheat whiskey to carve out a unique niche alongside Bourbon and Rye.

Master Craftsmanship: 10-Year Aging and High-Proof Bottling

This limited edition whiskey is crafted from barrels aged for 10 years and bottled at a high strength of 115 proof (57.5% ABV). The liquid displays a bright copper color with aromas of cinnamon, baking spices, and vanilla. On the palate, it reveals rich layers of molasses and butterscotch, finishing with a warm, balanced peppery linger. The bottle design has been upgraded, featuring an exquisite copper plate on the front to symbolize its rare anniversary status.

As a Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey, the mashbill contains at least 51% wheat. Since its inception, Bernheim has continued to lead the development of this category.
