The new design aims to capture the essence of the city that lends the brand its name. The bottle is adorned with radiant sunburst motifs reflecting the warmth of Cuban sunshine and the sunset over the iconic Malecón seawall promenade. Detailed embossing, metallic gold accents, and a distinctive cigar-shaped label come together to honor the city's architectural legacy and cultural heritage. The packaging also emphasizes its Cuban provenance by placing the D.O.P. Cuba seal and the "Añejo 7 Años" age statement more prominently on the bottle, confirming that the youngest drop in the blend has been aged for at least seven years.
Continuing the Continuous Ageing Process Since 1978
Havana Club Añejo 7 Años was originally created in 1978 by the late Don José Navarro, the revered Primero Maestro del Ron Cubano hailed as the father of modern Cuban rum. This expression pioneered the continuous ageing process, establishing the foundation for today's crisp and light Cuban rum style. In this process, after rum matures, portions are blended and returned to barrels for further ageing to build depth, complexity, and consistency, ensuring every batch honors the original flavor profile.
Asbel Morales, Maestro del Ron Cubano at Havana Club, noted that Havana Club Añejo 7 Años is the very soul of Cuban rum making, representing the first expression to showcase the deep flavors born of Cuba's climate, ageing heritage, and the lineage of its master rum makers. He emphasized that through this redesign, the team wanted the packaging to mirror the elegance of the liquid inside, with every detail rooted in Havana's vibrant culture and warmth.
The newly redesigned Havana Club Añejo 7 Años will roll out across select European markets over the next two months, followed by a broader international launch.
