Glenglassaugh Launches New 15-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky
Highland Coastal Flavor Upgraded: Distillery Launches New 15-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky
Located in the Scottish Highlands, the Glenglassaugh distillery has recently expanded its portfolio with the launch of the new Glenglassaugh 15 Years Old single malt whisky. Bottled at 46% ABV, this new expression serves as an upgraded alternative to the flagship 12-year-old whisky, offering whisky enthusiasts an older age-statement experience and marking an important milestone in the brand's development.
Master Blender Rachel Barrie noted that this whisky perfectly captures the distillery's coastal geography. She drew inspiration from the impression of sunsets over Sandend Bay, expertly combining Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and Spanish red wine casks for maturation. This imparts a deep and complex flavor profile to the liquid, releasing prominent coastal notes alongside rich aromas of dates, orange peel, papaya, and chocolate.
Brand Refresh and Global Launch Plan
Founded in 1875, the Glenglassaugh distillery was acquired by American company Brown-Forman in 2016. Following a brand repositioning and refresh in 2023, it introduced a brand-new core range, continuing to expand its global recognition and earning deep affection from single malt collectors and connoisseurs.
Following its debut in the UK market, this 15-year-old novelty will be rolled out globally. North America is expected to see the release later this month, selected European markets will follow in August, and the Asia-Pacific region is slated for an official launch in September, allowing whisky fans worldwide to taste this masterpiece blending maritime character with exquisite cask-finishing craftsmanship.
