Glenfarclas Unveils The Last of the Millennium Bottling Limited Edition Treasure

Speyside whisky distillery Glenfarclas has proudly released the fourth rare bottling in its annual Decanter Series The Last of the Millennium Bottling. This series commemorates the stylistic evolution of five generations of the Glenfarclas family, with this year's release limited to only 600 bottles.

The Last of the Millennium Bottling carries a deeply significant history. On the last day of the millennium, members of the Grant family and distillery employees gathered to personally seal a batch of oak casks. Mr. George S. Grant, who had served as distillery chairman for 52 years at the time, and current chairman Mr. John Grant, were present to witness this event. This cask sealing also marked Mr. George S. Grant's final visit to the distillery before his passing in 2002, making these casks exceptionally meaningful to Glenfarclas.

This bottling is the fourth release in the Glenfarclas Decanter Series, selected from one of the twelve casks sealed on that day, aiming to perfectly showcase Glenfarclas's tradition and unique style. The first bottling in this series was released in 2022, a 25-year-old single malt whisky bottled at cask strength. In 2023, a 20-year-old Port pipe matured expression was introduced. The bottling released last year (2023) came from cask number 12, sealed by Mr. John Grant on January 1st, 2000, and was bottled on July 30th, 2024.

Peter Donnelly, Spirits Director at Pol Roger Portfolio, Glenfarclas's UK distributor, explained that the concept of the Decanter Series is to release five special bottlings over five years, representing five generations of the Glenfarclas family and their respective preferred whisky styles.

This year's The Last of the Millennium Bottling also features a single sherry cask, filled on December 31st, 1999. It has matured in oak for over 25 years and will be bottled on August 28th, 2025. This expression boasts its natural color and a strength of 51.2% ABV, with only 600 Glencairn presentation bottles available worldwide.

The fifth and final bottling in the Decanter Series is expected to be released in 2026.
