To celebrate its 190th anniversary, renowned Speyside independent family distillery Glenfarclas proudly announces the release of the new limited-edition single malt whisky, Glenfarclas 190. This highly commemorative new release serves as the final chapter of the distillery's anniversary trilogy, perfectly blending rare whisky stocks spanning five different decades to showcase the distillery's deep maturation expertise and traditional craftsmanship.

The alcohol by volume (ABV) for this whisky is specially set at 51.4%, a figure that represents the traditional 90 British proof alcohol concentration benchmark from the distillery's first 154 years of history. Crafted personally by Distillery Manager Callum Fraser and Managing Director Douglas Belford, this meaningful expression was expertly blended from a meticulous selection of 78 casks drawn from the distillery's vast cellar inventory.

Rich Flavors and a Commitment to Traditional Craftsmanship

In terms of flavor profile, official tasting notes indicate that Glenfarclas 190 delivers a silky and rich palate, exuding aromas of green apple, sweet sherry, and spicy Christmas cake, underscored by a lingering finish of dark chocolate and fresh tobacco leaves. The blending team skillfully combined the fruity notes of the 1970s, the rich sherry character of the 1980s and 1990s, and the toffee and caramel aromas imparted by casks from the 2000s.

Since obtaining its official license in 1836, the Glenfarclas distillery has remained entirely under the ownership of the sixth-generation Grant family. The distillery persists in sourcing premium sherry casks from family-owned bodegas in Jerez, Spain, and continues to use traditional direct-fire copper pot stills. Following the releases of Glenfarclas 175 and Glenfarclas 185, this non-chill filtered 190th anniversary expression with no added caramel once again proves the distillery's unwavering dedication to traditional whisky craftsmanship.
