Deanston 21YO Palo Cortado Cask: Rare 80-Bottle Release

The Balmoral's SCOTCH Bar in Edinburgh Launches Exclusive Hand-Fill Experience

SCOTCH, the whisky bar at the five-star The Balmoral hotel on Edinburgh's Princes Street, has announced the launch of a brand-new whisky experience this August, offering guests the rare opportunity to hand-fill, sign, and take home the oldest single malt whisky ever released by Deanston. Available exclusively at the Edinburgh venue, the liquid is drawn straight from a dedicated single cask yielding just 80 bottles, presenting an exceptionally limited opportunity for whisky collectors and enthusiasts.

Fully Matured in Palo Cortado Sherry Casks

This 21-year-old Highland single malt boasts a rich, full-bodied profile, having been fully matured in rare Palo Cortado sherry casks. Specially selected by SCOTCH manager Ross Barr alongside his dedicated team of whisky ambassadors, this bespoke Deanston expression is not available anywhere else in the world.

Hand-Fill and By-The-Dram Tasting Experience

As part of the bespoke experience, guests are invited to hand-fill and sign their own bottle, creating an individualized keepsake to celebrate one of Deanston's most notable releases to date. The bar also offers the whisky by the dram, giving enthusiasts the chance to sample this rare Highland single malt on-site.

SCOTCH manager Ross Barr noted that this offers guests an extraordinary opportunity to interact with whisky in a way typically reserved for distillery visits. He remarked that from hand-filling and signing the bottle to tasting such a rare spirit, the experience brings a whole new level of personalization and exclusivity to SCOTCH. The release further bolsters the bar's standing as a premier destination for rare and collectible whiskies.
