Bushmills Irish Whiskey has announced a major bottle redesign for its classic blend, Black Bush, marking its first packaging update in nearly two decades. The new premium bottle will launch first in the UK, Spain, and Poland in June 2026, with Ireland and the US following later that year. This update represents a significant milestone in the brand's history, aimed at elevating its visual appeal with a more elegant and contemporary feel.
Honoring Northern Irish Landmarks: Meticulous Bottle Details
The new design introduces a taller silhouette with broader shoulders and sharper angles, complemented by an exposed wooden cork. A transparent seal replaces the previous opaque packaging, enhancing the premium feel. The design is deeply inspired by the Giant's Causeway, located near the Old Bushmills Distillery, with a hexagonal recessed base mirroring the site's famous basalt columns. Additionally, a refined pot still emblem is embossed on the shoulder, emphasizing its status as a premium whiskey.
Classic Flavor Remains: Traditional Craft Meets Gold-Award Excellence
Following the 2021 relaunch of the single malt range, this update aims to unify the brand's visual identity. Master Distiller Colum Egan noted that while the bottle has evolved, the classic triple-distillation, nutty sweetness, and smooth finish from Sherry cask maturation remain unchanged. Blending a high proportion of single malt aged in Oloroso Sherry casks, this whiskey earned a Gold Medal at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2025 for its deep fruit flavors and rich character.

Muiris Ó Riada, International Marketing Director at Proximo Spirits, stated that this investment reinforces Bushmills' leadership in the global blended whiskey market. According to IWSR 2025 data, Bushmills is now the world's second-largest Irish whiskey brand by value. Established in 1608, the Old Bushmills Distillery is the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery. The new packaging is expected to be available globally by early 2027, beginning a new chapter for the brand.
