Bowmore 單一麥芽威士忌 The Devil’s Casks 推出 10 年與 22 年 | Bowmore announces the return of its Devil’s Casks series

Bowmore Relaunches The Devil's Casks: 10 & 22 Year Old

Relaunching a Limited Series After a Decade: Oloroso & PX Maturation Mastery

Islay distillery Bowmore has announced the official revival of The Devil’s Casks series more than a decade after its first limited release, unveiling two brand new single malt Scotch whiskies.

Specifications & Cask Maturation Breakdown

The two newly introduced expressions are Bowmore The Devil’s Casks 10 Year Old and Bowmore The Devil’s Casks 22 Year Old. Bottled at 56.6% ABV, the 10 Year Old serves as a 2026 homage to the initial three small-batch releases, matured in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks and finished in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Bottled at a cask strength of 59.6% ABV, the 22 Year Old features the final two remaining casks from the original era aged for an additional decade; after 22 years in first-fill Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks, it completed its journey in refill Oloroso sherry casks.

Flavor Profile & Blender's Notes

In terms of flavor, The Devil’s Casks 10 Year Old delivers an intense, decadent profile layered with dark fruits and fruitcake, wrapped in cocoa and maple syrup, and underscored by the distillery’s signature smoke. The Devil’s Casks 22 Year Old reveals deep complexity, evolving from charred fruit and treacle into savory oak and liquorice sweetness.

Dr Calum Fraser, Chief Blender for Scotch & Irish Whiskies at Suntory Global Spirits, noted that The Devil’s Casks is one of Bowmore's most memorable modern limited series, seamlessly fusing folklore with flavor-led distillery character to marry lush sherry-cask sweetness with coastal peat smoke and sea salt tang. Kirsteen Beeston, Global Brand Managing Director, added that revisiting the archives gives a new generation of whisky lovers and collectors the opportunity to discover these iconic releases.

Folklore Origin & Release Details

Originally released between 2013 and 2015, The Devil’s Casks series became renowned for its rich sherry-cask influence. Its name stems from local Islay legend, recounting how the devil allegedly entered The Round Church in Bowmore village. Having no corners to hide in, he was chased by townsfolk into the distillery and escaped aboard a ship bound for the mainland inside a whisky cask. The new releases arrive starting October 16, with distillery availability starting December 1.
