Bowmore Unveils New Sherry Oak Cask Collection in US Market
Bowmore, the oldest legal distillery on Scotland's Islay island, has officially launched its new Sherry Oak Cask Collection series in the United States market. This collection brings together single malt Scotch whiskies of different ages that have been matured in Sherry Oak Casks, including 12, 15, 18, and 21-year-old expressions, aiming to showcase the characteristics of maturation in European oak sherry casks.
The 12-year-old and 15-year-old whiskies from this series have already been released in the US market, while the more coveted 18-year-old and 21-year-old are expected to be launched before Valentine's Day in 2026. Simon Brooking, Scotch National Ambassador for Suntory Global Spirits, expressed excitement about sharing this collection with American whiskey enthusiasts, noting the growing appreciation in the US market for cask maturation and whiskey refinement. He emphasized that under the leadership of Master Blender Dr. Calum Fraser, this series masterfully demonstrates Bowmore's exceptional craftsmanship, with the four different aged whiskies serving as excellent examples of sherry cask influence in whiskey production.
All whiskies in this series undergo finishing in Oloroso sherry casks, with the 18-year-old and 21-year-old expressions receiving an additional finishing in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The maturation process for these whiskies takes place in Bowmore's historic No.1 Vaults, one of the world's oldest maturation cellars. The cellar's coastal location allows the liquid to be influenced by the maritime climate during aging, shaping its final flavor profile.
In terms of packaging design, the new series adopts Bowmore's signature black color palette, accented with burgundy details to symbolize the impact of sherry casks on the whiskey's flavor.
