The 16th Annual Canadian Whisky Awards were held in Victoria, British Columbia, officially unveiling the 2026 winners. In this prestigious event, often hailed as the Oscars of the Canadian whisky world, J.P. Wiser’s 24 Year Old Canadian Whisky delivered an exceptional performance, securing the top honor of Canadian Whisky of the Year. This blended whisky from the J.P. Wiser’s Decades Series stood out during a rigorous blind tasting of approximately 200 whiskies by 13 professional judges, earning the highest score of the competition.

Master Craftsmanship: Elegant Layers of 24-Year Maturation

This award-winning premium whisky was distilled in 2000 and aged for 24 years. The judging panel praised its flavor profile, describing it as showcasing delicate oak spices and leather notes, perfectly integrated with sweet layers of creamy toffee and nougat. Davin de Kergommeaux, Chairman of the Judges and author of Canadian Whisky: The Essential Portable Expert, noted that this high-age expression combines the elegant texture of aged spirits with master-level blending, demonstrating incredible depth and detail.

Category Honors and Industry Strength

In other categories, Wayne Gretzky Distillery’s Maple Cask Whisky was named Blended Whisky of the Year; BEARFACE Triple Oak won Corn Whisky of the Year; and Wild Life Distillery’s WLD Cask King of the North took home Rye Whisky of the Year. Macaloney’s Distillery won Single Malt Whisky of the Year with The Peat Project: Harvest Coast. Furthermore, Sons of Vancouver Distillery was named Canadian Whisky Producer of the Year, and Bill Ashburn of Forty Creek was honored with the Canadian Whisky Lifetime Achievement Award.

Since its inception in 2010, the awards have remained independent, requiring all entries to be distilled and matured in Canada. A total of 47 distilleries were recognized this year, highlighting the craftsmanship and rising international status of Canadian Whisky.
