Product Details

Launched in 1984, Yamazaki 12 Years Old is the flagship creation of Suntory. This version is the black box EU version, maintaining the classic 43% ABV. Matured in various casks, including the rare and expensive Japanese Mizunara oak, it imparts a serene aroma reminiscent of ancient temples. Whether enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as a premium Highball, it reveals extraordinary depth.

The Yamazaki Distillery is located at the foot of Mt. Tenno on the outskirts of Kyoto, where three rivers (Uji, Katsura, and Kizu) converge. This area is known for its misty climate and excellent water source, essential for whisky making. In 1923, Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory, established Japan's first malt distillery here.

The uniqueness of Yamazaki 12 Years Old lies in its diverse vatting, particularly the use of Mizunara casks. Mizunara is a Japanese oak that grows slowly and is porous, resulting in whiskies with notes of incense, sandalwood, and oriental spices. This 'Zen-like' flavor has led Yamazaki 12 to win numerous gold medals in international spirits competitions.
